Media Dress Code and Equipment Guidelines

9th - AFRIMA Awards | Media Registration & Accreditation

To ensure a seamless event experience and to prevent crowding of stage areas or obstruction of broadcast coverage or guests’ views during the live broadcast at the Eko Convention Center, all accredited media must strictly adhere to the following guidelines:

Media Access & Accreditation:

  • Official Media and Broadcast Partners are given priority access and all-access privileges, in line with their partnership agreements.
  • All accredited media must operate strictly within assigned areas and access levels.
  • Each member of a media organization must register individually for accreditation.
  • Group registrations are not permitted; accreditation is issued on an individual basis only.

Dress Code:

  • Media personnel must wear professional attire appropriate for a high-profile international event.
  • Acceptable outfits include African-inspired attire (well-tailored and formal) or corporate wear such as suits, blazers, dress shirts, and smart trousers.
  • Outfits must be neat, modest, and well-fitted.
  • Neutral or dark colors, especially black, are strongly encouraged.
  • Bright colors, flashy designs, oversized clothing, or reflective materials should be avoided.

Footwear:

  • Approved footwear includes trainers/sneakers, formal shoes, or smart casual shoes that allow ease of movement.
  • Trekkers, slippers, flip-flops, Crocs, sandals, or open footwear are strictly prohibited.
  • Footwear must be clean, secure, and suitable for prolonged standing.

Camera and Lens Specifications:

  • Cameras are permitted during the live red carpet broadcast only.
  • No cameras are allowed inside the main hall during the live awards show, unless expressly approved by the organizers.
  • Where approval is granted, only handheld cameras are permitted inside the main hall.
  • Camera lenses must not exceed 70–200mm.
  • Tripods, monopods, camera rigs, or stabilizers are not allowed inside the main hall unless expressly approved by the organizers.
  • Equipment that obstructs movement or blocks guest sightlines is prohibited.

Coverage Rules:

  • Media coverage must be conducted strictly from designated media areas and the media gallery on the red carpet.
  • Access to the stage, aisles, and guest seating areas is not permitted.
  • Media personnel must remain mindful at all times to avoid blocking views or disrupting the live event.
  • Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in restricted access or withdrawal of accreditation.
