Awards Categories

There are a total of 40 awards spread across different music genres and creative expressions ranging from the classic to the traditional to the contemporary forms of African music and creativity. The awards also include the honorary AFRIMA Legend Award.

The Legend Award is a special recognition/honour to an African music veteran whose personality and musical art has contributed immensely to the advancement of the music and creative sectors of the continent. This celebrated veteran, through his or her professional career, has brought about positive international perception of African heritage and art.
