The Event

AFRIMA runs an annual calendar of programmes for nine months and this includes the Main Awards events and the Build Up events spanning the five regions Africa and overseas countries where the African diaspora is densely situated. AFRIMA events and activities are predominantly youth and music focused and they include concerts & festivals, conferences, parties, stakeholders meetings and a Host City University Campus Concert.

One of the critical programmes on the AFRIMA event calendar is the formal unveiling of the annual event calendar in collaboration with the Commission of the African Union and the AFRIMA Host Country. Each edition of the AFRIMA Main Awards Ceremony is broadcast live on a dedicated DSTV pop-up channel (Channel 198), while also showing on 82 partner online and traditional TV platforms across the globe in 64 countries. The previous editions have garnered millions of live broadcast audience (see Facts & Figures for more viewership data).

AFRIMA is the number 1 trending event in Africa in November during the awards ceremony and AFRIMA stays on the Africa top trend list between August and November when the online public voting is on. The event production is world-class as the concept and execution is managed by professionals from different countries in Africa with many years of experience.
