VOTING AND ADJUDICATION PROCESS

VOTING PROCESS

Voting commences as soon as the adjudication of entries and artistes profiles have been completed. The International Committee would verify and unveil the “Nominees List” in the public media (print, TV, radio, online) on the continent and abroad.African music fans can then vote online (www.afrima.org) for nominees in the award category or on a AFRIMA mobile Application.

ADJUDICATION PROCESS

There are thirty (34) award categories with two main voting categories i.e. Regional and Continental. 10 Regional Categories and 24 Continental  Categories (Click here for breakdown of the award categories ).


COMPOSITION OF VOTERS

Award winners will emerge through a voting process which will occur via the AFRIMA Academy of Voters and the African Public (54 African countries in total).

The Academy of Voters comprising of the Jury and College of Voters is made up of 527 members spread across the five regions of Africa (Southern Africa, West Africa, East Africa, North Africa and Central  Africa).

The Academy has been grouped into two categories as detailed below:


JURY MEMBERS:

2 persons per region -10
2 persons representing the Diaspora -1 Europe and 1 North America
1 from African Union Commission
Total = 13


COLLEGE OF VOTERS:

9 persons per African country – 486
2 persons per 14 non-African countries – 28
Total - 514
The 527 Academy members are pre-qualified by the International Committee of AFRIMA .


VOTE TALLY MECHANICS

Four tally mechanics have been defined for each award category.
They include:

  • 50% Public Votes and 50% Academy Votes
  • 100% Academy Votes
  • 100% Public Votes
  • 100% International Committee Members (Only for the AFRIMA Legend Award)


VOTING CHANNELS

The Public will be required to vote through the Afrima website only

VOTING RULES

  1. Voting can be done in any part of the world on www.afrima.org.
  2. There is no time restriction to voting; 24 hours per day.
  3. Voting is not restricted to any age group, gender or nationality.
  4. Voters are eligible to 33 votes throughout the voting process.
  5. Voters are permitted to vote for more than one artiste in each of the awards categories.
  6. Multiple voting is not permitted as voters are only allowed to vote once for an artiste in each of the awards categories throughout the voting process.
  7. Voting for your favourite artistes is only open to every one
