• AFRIMA 2014: New York concert builds up

    The maiden edition of the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, has made significant progress in preparations for the ‘On the Way to AFRIMA Concert’ holding in New York, USA.

    Last week, a US-based production team visited the Nigeria office of PRMAfrica, the producers of AFRIMA, to deliberate on how a partnership between both interests could bring about successful build-up edition of the New York concert.

    The meeting was held behind closed doors.

    Mike Dada, CEO of PRMAfrica and Executive Producer, AFRIMA, however, revealed that the New York concert will hold at the Barclays Arena in Brooklyn, New York.

    Organisers of the All African Music Awards have unveiled names of 11 African icons as its possible patrons. It is from these names that the public will select six through an online voting process.

    On the long list of the AFRIMA Board of Patrons are Desmond Tutu (South Africa), Olusegun Obasanjo (Nigeria), Winnie Madikizela–Mandela (South Africa), Kofi Annan (Ghana), Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o (Kenya), Mohammed ‘Mo’ Ibrahim (Sudan), Emeka Anyaoku (Nigeria), Patrice Motsepe (South Africa), Alpha Oumar Konare (Mali), Dame Patience Jonathan (Nigeria), Martha Namundjebo-Tilahun (Namibia), Mohammed Ibn-Chambas (Ghana), Joaquim Alberto Chissano (Mozambique), Kenneth Kaunda (Zambia) and Bola Tinubu (Nigeria).
